The co-founder of TNE (along with her father), Anna Soloway is a native Washingtonian and grew up attending DC Public Schools. She is now a licensed Social Worker in the District of Columbia. She received her BA in Social Work from the University of Vermont in 2007 after which she moved to Boston to work as an in-home family therapist. Anna was trained in crisis de-escalation and moved on to work with young adults aging out of the foster care system doing intensive therapy and life skills training. Anna returned to graduate school and received her Masters in Social Work from Boston University in 2011. While in school Anna worked as a school social worker at an inner-city middle school and focused on child and adolescent studies.
Upon receiving her Masters Degree, Anna decided to pursue her dream of working in Africa. After moving back to DC and working as a community-based family therapist, Anna spent 5 months in Uganda and East Africa with the NGO “Raising Voices,” working to prevent violence against women and children. While in Africa, Anna traveled with her family to Ndarakwai Ranch, where the idea for TNE was born.
Anna returned to DC in mid-2013 and worked with children and adolescents ages 5-18 as a Social Worker at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, an inpatient psychiatric hospital. She later spent 4 years as the lead Social Worker for the KIPP Quest Academy in Washington, DC, and is currently the social worker at the School Without Walls at Francis Stevens Education Campus in Washington, DC.
